From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).
With calculations for vehicle dynamics, specifically braking ratios and front skid safety factors.

and this gives 4.
(2(μRʀ + μRꜰ) + 5 Rʀ - 5 Rꜰ) / (Rʀ + Rꜰ) = W.
2W + 5Rʀ = 5Rꜰ
Also 7W = 10Rꜰ
- 10RF
So that during an all out stop we would require F/R of 2.3/1
Now if you use a lever ratio of 1.75/1 the actual ratio you get is 1.53/1 which is not excessive, & gives ample safety factor against front skid
Just before war we were trying hard to get a car so fitted but there was
