The Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd. Luton. -2- If you can give us some figures showing the relative reversibility of the Marles and Marles-Weller type of steering gear we can compare them with the figures we get on our own steering and this will enable us to form an opinion as to whether it is worth trying out these gears. We would say that we always measure the reversibility with sudden load applications to represent the kick of the road wheels and also light load applications, as this more nearly represents the conditions in service. If you build up a steering for us it would appear that a standard Marles-Weller type of box will fit our chassis, as the distance from the centre of the steering column to the centre of the pendulum lever on our car is 6.875". We should like to know the cost of such a gear complete with column. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
