ENGINE BOOMS & TORQUE REACTION.

We have now had experience of the 'Diamond' engine mounting on both the 40/50 and the 25 HP.

In each case torque reaction dampers were fitted to the front of the engine.

We can say that when the torque reaction dampers were adjusted to the best advantage this feature did not appear to be any worse than the present standard production, whilst there was a very marked improvement on engine 'booms' at high speeds.

The greatest difficulty with the torque reaction dampers is that to get the full benefit of the 'Diamond' engine mounting they must not be over-loaded three or four pounds being adequate to deal with the torque reaction. The expansion of the engine case increase the load on these dampers very considerably and we think that care should be taken in any new design to overcome this trouble.
