- 4 - A.J. Rowledge, Esq., (contd) 7th. December, 1931. 'The single cylinder tests shewed the heat resistance of the plugs to be high, it being possible to carry 128 Lbs/sq. in. BMEP at 2000 RPM, 5.3:1 C.R. without detonation. A 59 hour endurance test at 130 BMEP 2200 RPM (Boosted) was completed satisfactorily.' Tests are also being conducted by Hispano in France on their 600 HP super-charged engine, 25 hours having just been completed without any sign of detonation, leakage or fouling. Further tests are also being made by Bugatti, Isotta and Fiat. I have also received very recently interesting orders from K.L.M. and the Dutch Air Force. I must apologise for the great length of this letter, but I wished to explain the whole situation to you as fully as possible. If we have developed a highly successful sparking plug, it cannot but be of interest to engine manufacturers, especially in view of the ever increasing compressions and BMEP. I shall look forward to hearing from you, and possibly to the pleasure of seeing you on my next visit. I am entirely at your service for any further information you may care to have. Yours faithfully, Captain Cyril Turner. CT. | ||
