1180 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GB.2/ET. Your ref. 289/RRB/EJW. 30th August, 1940. R.R. BISHOP, Esq., Messrs. Vauxhall Motors Ltd., L U T O N. Dear Mr. Bishop, Thanks very much for both of your letters. There was a query on the first envelope. The information given was helpful. Taking advantage of your invitation, I would like to put two more questions. They are:- 1. If brake liners are "burnt" by having their temperature raised to 500° F.{Mr Friese} (or whatever is necessary), is the subsequent rate of wear at 300° F.{Mr Friese} appreciably greater than at 100° F.{Mr Friese}? 2. In a brake with one leading and one trailing shoe, does the drum equalise the liner temperature, or does the leading shoe run hotter than the trailing shoe? I would very much like to meet you soon and will take the first opportunity of doing so. Yours sincerely, | ||
