X 3404. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} GIBBS, M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} I. MECH. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}, A.M.I.E.E. -A.C.G.I.- CONSULTING ENGINEER. TELEPHONE 114. 7, LUNE STREET, PRESTON. Nov. 19th 1918 Dear Clough, I got home by last train last night and have found your letter here this morning. I enclose two illustrations of my air meters which only differ in the arrangement of the orifices. The larger one is similar to that- supplied to Bamber Bridge. These meters are made to my design and under my patent at York: The price of the Bamber Bridge meter was £18 โ this was of course pre-war. The principle of the meter is in the use of a small variable orifice and a constant head under which the air flows into the orifice. You will perhaps remember the method of using the instrument โ start with orifice wide open and gradually close down until the working head as indicated on the joint manometer is arrived at. This with the pictures & your memory may furnish all you want for the present. With kind rgds Yours sincerely Geo. Gibbs I can arrange to pass through Derby about the end of this month?
