TCS/DR Dec. 6/33. W.A.Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, I sent you yesterday a sample of a reserve petrol tap. You will notice that both the reserve and main pipe feed to the tap, and when the petrol gets down to the main level air is sucked up to this pipe. The function of the tap is then to close the air on this particular pipe line. The chief advantage of this system is that normally on a two way tap, as the reserve is not often used it gets bunged up with dirt. Our tap, of course, obviates this trouble. Incidentally, it is also absolutely leak proof. We designed it originally with the intention of putting it on the market, but on investigation we find there is a very small sale as manufacturers of the majority of the cars in large production will not go to the expense of fitting two pipes. If you wish, however, we would make them specially for you. It is, of course, a dashboard fitting. Kind regards. Yours sincerely, [Signature] [Logo: ENGINEERING AND ALLIED EMPLOYERS' NATIONAL FEDERATION 1896] | ||
