X293. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/MA. October 6th, 1932. Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, LONDON, N.W.10. For the attention of Mr.Park. Dear Sirs, Further to our telephone conversation this morning we are sending herewith a blue print showing the contour of our Bentley 'A' dashboard. We have indicated roughly the contour of the scuttle on the first two bodies received and you will see that they differ widely from the dash contour. The actual contour of the top of the scuttle which lines up with our bonnet is correct and needs no alteration, our difficulty is that we have to cut away the scuttle frame at the corners to clear the lip on the dashboard, and the outer scuttle isolation bolts almost run into the top scuttle, panelling; we should be glad if you can correct this on the remaining bodies. Another point with regard to the scuttles is that they have both been considerably wider at the bottom than at the top and it has been necessary to pull them in by screwing brackets to the bottom of the scuttle and bolting them to the chassis. We do not know whether Mr.Evernden has supplied you with information re side spare wheel carriers since the first body, but we understood that the future bodies would be cut away to clear the spare wheel carrier arm and step iron; we have had to do this on both the bodies. | ||
