RUDGE-WHITWORTH LTD GLH/MH.{M. Huckerby} TELEPHONE 4001 TELEGRAMS RUDGE COVENTRY RUDGE WORKS COVENTRY Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 13th. March 1936. For the attention of Mr. Robotham. Dear Mr. Robotham, Replying to your letter of the 12th. inst., we have never had a Radial or Semi Radial Head with any other than a central plug position. The original four-valve pent roof head had a side plug, and the present standard 4-valve engine has a side plug, but the valve sizes are different, and the operating methods are different, and they are only available in cast iron, so that I am afraid your only course would be to provide for a side plug in the head you have. Yours faithfully, For RUDGE-WHITWORTH LIMITED. GHack Chief of Tech. Dept. MAKERS OF RUDGE-WHITWORTH BICYCLES AND RUDGE MOTOR CYCLES EDWARD DE STEIN, CHAIRMAN. MAJOR GERALD R.{Sir Henry Royce} ASHTON.
