Dear Sir Henry,

I thought you would be interested to know that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} have agreed that we can take on another assistant for Compression Ignition work.

We have held the view for some time that if we are going to make a real success of the C.I. engine, we ought to have better talent than we have at present available for working on this problem. The man we have chosen, and who will be starting with us on the 22nd. inst., is Dr. Underwood. I enclose particulars of his previous experience, and also a copy of one of the papers he has published on C.I. work. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} have met him at Derby and consider that he should prove to be very valuable. We expect, of course, that it will take some little time for him to get a clear analysis of our results on the high speed engine, although he has been in touch with a number of people working on the problem and should quickly get into line.

Dr. Underwood is about 30 years old, single, and from what I have been able to judge from him so far, he has a very nice personality and I feel sure you will like him.

I trust that you are having good weather, (We have had a remarkably dry and mild winter so far), and I hope that both you and Miss Aubin are enjoying your stay at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.

Yours sincerely,
