ROLLS ROYCE/BRISTOL LIAISON. AGENDA FOR MEETING TO BE HELD AT DERBY ON THURSDAY - 26.10.39. (1) Vulture Reduction Gear. Review fully the policy settled between the Directors of the two Companies in regard to pooling the "Centaurus" reduction gear for War time production. (2) Steel Specifications. Discuss S.B.A.C. proposal to resuscitate work on reducing number of steel specifications, having in mind Rolls-Royce/Bristol Liaison action on this subject, and position of proposed S.B.A.C. Committee under an Air Ministry Chairman. (3) Magnesium. Discuss the extended use of magnesium in Wartime. (4) Interchangeable Power Units. Consider present position and proposed action. (5) Accessory Gear Boxes. Arising out of item (4), discuss possibility of adopting a standardised accessory gearbox. Consider source of supply (Rotol's). (6) Accessory Drives. Consider policy regarding draft report of Accessory Sub-Committee in respect to standardisation of speeds. (7) S.B.A.C. Technical Activities. The Chairman of the S.B.A.C. has been approached regarding the suspension of Technical activities. Consider further action. (8) Engine Starters. Discuss policy with particular reference to Coffman starters and constant voltage generators. Decide line of action with Air Ministry. (9) Engine Driven Generators. Discuss necessity for engine development prior to standardisation. (10) Sparking Plugs. Review policy and action necessary to assure supply. | ||
