Re - Standardisation Sheet X.1876. x4309 Starter Mechanism of Condor Engines.

With regard to the above completed sheet we take it replacement of these parts is to be done under heading "A" and that this replacement is to be retrospective.

We should like to point out that the cost of this modification will be considerably more than the figures set out on the standardisation sheet, if modified outside the Works.

We are arranging this modification to be carried out only on such engines as are already installed in machines and which we have information are likely to go into the air, as we feel that should the majority of the Condor engines ultimately be returned to the Works for the four carburetter scheme to be embodied, this modification could, at the same time, be carried out at less expense.

We shall be glad to hear however, before we take any action, that the sanction of the Air Ministry to this modification has been obtained; the standardisation sheet omits to state this.

Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please fix up an order number with BP. for :-

(1) The manufacture of the parts and modification to the switch assembly.

(2) The dismantling and re-assembling of the modified unit away from the Works.

and issue the necessary instructions to the Works for the manufacture of the new parts required.

We should be glad of an early settlement of this, as there are several engines installed in machines and about to fly, and we certainly feel that before this takes place the new scheme should be incorporated.
