The Inota filter had a fair amount of very small fluff on the edges of the plates, and this was the probable cause of the pump failing to deliver petrol. It was reported on the test bed that it did not require much obstruction to stop the pump from drawing petrol. We thoroughly examined the pump but could not find any cause for the failure.

OIL TEMPERATURES.

We have, owing to the hot weather, had on several occasions an oil temperature over 100°C being delivered to the bearings, the temperature being recorded on the outlet side of the pump.

FLYWHEEL & CLUTCH to LOP.G.78723.

Stronger Clutch Springs Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}052 fitted replacing G.76556.
Clutch relined.
New friction plate G.78724.

The clutch has been very smooth in engagement. There has been no sign of slipping. No apparent wear of the fabrics has taken place. The use of engine oil in the gearbox has decreased the retarding effect that the thicker oil had upon the continuous gears, thus losing the braking effect on the clutch when disengaged. It is now more prone to revolve after being disengaged.

F.I.D.M.S LOP.F.84381. CANTILEVER SYPH.

Incorporating the following :-

F.84348 Collar - Clutch Pedal Sleeve.
F.84308 Link to Brake Pedal Spring to suit Synchromesh Gearbox.

The clutch pedal has, up to the present mileage, kept free from joggling, the fitting of the spring loaded collar having effect. The abnormal load previously required to operate the brake pedal has been overcome by fitting the link to the pull off spring. The load required is now normal.
