ROYAL ARSENAL,
WOOLWICH, S.E. 18......20th August,.......1934.

For the attention of Mr.Hives.

Dear Sir,

I would be glad if you could send me details of the method of operation of your latest device for damping the suspension of automobiles.

Would you indicate the maximum torque or retarding force the device can exeAero Enginert.

What arc of travel or lift is involved ?

Information is required as to how you effect variation of damping whilst the vehicle is in motion to suit varying conditions of road and speed.

I am anxious to find some arrangement which can be made applicable to the damping of heavy vehicle suspensions, and I am particuarly interested in being able to vary the degree of damping.

Whilst I fear your devices as designed will be too light for my purpose, it might be feasible to utilize the same principles in a redesign. I would be glad of any information or data you can send me.

Yours faithfully,

A MacLeod Ross.
