TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} E4/M6.6.25. re. OVEROILING ON EAC. ENGINE. X8980 With regard to the above it occurs to us that your tests have checked the effect of every lubrication feature on the engine which might contribute to over-oiling, with the exception of the pressure feed to the piston pins. It is conceivable that at high speed a considerable quantity of oil might be thrown out of this feed due to the inertia effects at the top of the stroke. Mr. Royce is agreeable to you testing an engine with the oil feed to the piston pins shut off. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
