To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}9/JH.5.4.40. re Enclosed Limousine 31.G.7. Left Hand Silver Phantom. This body was ordered in wood and aluminium construction in By.12/N. of June 7th. 1939 to which a specification was attached. The car was then a right hand drive Silver Wraith and a replica of 30.G.7. as far as the body was concerned. From an invoice for 30.G.7. giving detail prices, the body of 31.G.7. up to date should cost £711.6.0. if no alterations had been instructed. About the 3rd. week in July 1939 By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} agreed to allow Mr. Ward to produce 31.G.7. 32.G.7. and 33.G.7. in All steel construction verbally and no written reference is available. This was because Mr. Ward was short of work for his all steel body constructors due to the Bentley II bodies coming to an end. Subsequently, due to urgency 33.G.7. was allowed to continue in wood and alum and this is confirmed in By.4/N. of June 21st. 1940. In Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/4.11.39. we changed the car to a Silver Phantom with left hand drive and modifications entailed were given by Park Wards in their letter ref. CWW/MH{M. Huckerby} of Nov. 10th. 1939. In Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/WLL of Dec. 8th. 1939 we instructed the Lucas wipers with integral defrosters to be fitted. for all steel construction. If we add £100 to the £711.6.0. already quoted it leaves £142.18.7. to cover - a.{Mr Adams} changing from 6 to 8 cyl. b. changing to left hand drive. c. changing screen wiper.
