re:- Chassis 11-EX.

Re Spare Wheel Carriers.

It has been noticed that the position of the Rolls-Royce spare wheel carrier fitted to the above chassis brings the spare wheel to a position somewhat further forward than has been usual with the fittings supplied by various Coach-builders.

This necessitates either dropping the wheel a long way into the back of the wing, which is unsightly, or bring-ing the wing itself down very sharply behind the front wheel, which does not produce such a good line as can be obtained by sweeping it down to the running board more gently.

It would seem that it has been placed in this position in order to be completely clear of the various bolts of the after engine foot. Would it bring it too far back if it were fixed on the after side of these bolts? This would be a great improvement from the wing design point of view, and would have the additional advantage of shifting two con-siderable weights some 10" or 12" further back on the chassis.
