Please consider what is and what should be the procedure in regard to any alterations to the design of the chassis which may be considered desirable by Paris or other depots.

Should the alterations be made without first obtaining sanction from R.{Sir Henry Royce} or Derby?

For instance, whilst I was in Paris, Ps. showed me a scheme which he considered was very efficient for preventing the heat from the exhaust affecting the temperature of the body.

Had he submitted this scheme to Derby before fitting it, and are Derby satisfied that it is likely to prove effective and satisfactory as a fitting to a RR car? If so, should it not be adopted in England? If it is not satisfactory, should we permit our depots to fit it?
