-2- Gear Box. This unit is very disappointing. "Chunking" in drive on indirect gears was very marked. Before attention to noisy side shaft this feature was just passable. It is now quite out of the question for a trials car. The only change made in the box was the fitting of new continuous gears. This confirms our opinion as the result of past experience that they are the principal source of slack and chunking, particularly with regard to the fit on splines. In cooperation with Sft.{Mr Swift} we are attempting to prove this by attention to this point only. In the meantime we have fitted the box out of 34-KX which, in its own car, we thought was rather better for this feature, but the result in 33-KX is disappointing. The 2nd. gear crashes on engagement. The modifications to the clutch consisting of new friction material and fitting of "Oilite" bush are satisfactory. The altered leverage to front brakes is an improvement and the braking can now be considered satisfactory. Foul of Cross Steering Tube. The Cross Steering Tube ball ends still foul the brake drums, although we have cleared away the cap nuts as far as possible. | ||
