Handwritten note: RR/CRS Thanks RN.{Mr Robinson} YOUR REF....................... OUR REF...NR/W. 27th January, 1939. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. For the attention of Mr. Grylls. Dear Sirs, With further reference to our telephone conversation with you this afternoon we have pleasure in enclosing herewith a re-designed lay-out of the proposed centre fixing disc for your pressed steel wheel. You will note that we have included an detachable spider pressing, which is so designed that it is only possible to attach it in one position, thus ensuring that the valve hole in the disc will always come in correct relation to the valve. We suggest that the spider be locked in position by means of a nut rather than spring, but this could be modified if you so desire. The disc has now been designed in two parts, so that there would be no difficulty whatever in enamelling or spray painting. This arrangement has been used on one of our disc types for some years past and is very satisfactory. The overall depth has now been reduced to a minimum. Drawings relating to our standard disc equipment for the wire wheel in modified form will be sent during the next few days. | ||
