- 2 - these to be ground, removing 15/1000ths from each face. The edge also to be ground. (C) Top leaf to be from rolled bar of such a thickness as to allow a minimum of 1/8" machining on each face and edge. The eyes to be jumped up. The remaining leaves to be made as per (A). (d) Top leaf to be as per (C), and the remaining leaves as per (B). This represents one pair of springs for each combination, but the scheme would actually give two pairs of springs for covering each of the special features. I have instructed the Order Office to place an order for the four pairs of springs in question, and attach copy of Messrs. Firths letter hereto, so that the position will be fully understood by all those concerned. Messrs. Firths have definitely promised to press forward the work on these springs with the least possible delay, as they appreciate that we are very anxious indeed to adopt the new type of spring at the earliest possible moment. The reason why I arranged for Firths modification of the American spring to be the type to which all four pairs of springs are to be made is that it was this particular design which gave by far the best results on the three pairs of American type springs produced by Messrs. Firths. By | ||
