W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

I have pleasure in advising the despatch, under separate cover, of the new sample speedometer with galvanised flex which is exactly as we propose delivering to you in bulk. We are also including the clock, which is in dummy form for the reason that it is unfortunately impossible to give you a pukka production case until the tools are ready. We hope to send forward the petrol gauge on Wednesday.

As already explained, the speedometer will be in a similar case to that obtaining with our past Phantom III production, due to the fact that our experiments with the pressed case have not been satisfactory on account of noise. We shall not, of course, think of making the change in this direction until such time as we are able to put forward a thoroughly satisfactory job, but we must explore the possibility of the cheaper design of case on account of cost as, in the circumstances detailed above, the instrument will be supplied at a loss.

Sincerely yours,

Charles Wmainods
