Dear Sir:

Re: Proposal Sheet No.38
Use of "bone-grey" fiber.

At a recent interview with a representative of the fiber manufacturers, with regard to obtaining better fiber for the slipper fly-wheels, he mentioned that red fiber, being dyed for better appearance, was always liable to be brittle and was not recommended as a rubbing surface.

"Bone-grey" fiber is the term used for the fiber used for the rubbing blocks of battery ignition contact breaker arms, speedometer gears, etc., and is the type recommended by the makers.

Tests to date in the slipper flywheel on fibers of this type, sanded on both faces by the makers for a smooth finish, show good results.

It is proposed to make the change recommended by the manufacturers.
