COST OF LIVING BONUS.

With reference to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}12/KW.15.5.40. it has come to my notice that the Cost of Living Bonus is not being paid to Staff employees who have recently been taken on by the Company.

The Bonus should be paid to all the Staff whose wages or salary are not greater than £500 per annum, and Departmental heads should see that such Bonus is taken into account when fixing the commencing wage or salary.

If you have taken on any new staff in your department will you please see that each employee receives such Bonus, and if the Bonus has been included when fixing the commencing wages or salary, it should be made clear to such employee that his or her wages include so much Cost of Living Bonus.

In future will you please state on the starting form the amount of the wage or salary, and add "plus cost of living bonus", which as you know is less than 5/-d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} if employee is under 21.
