ORIGINAL To.R. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Ds. c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.27.10.31. 25 HP. BALANCE WEIGHTS. X.5010. 18-G4. which is going to France, will have the 6/8 unit scheme, which will balance . of the crankpin. Our stock of forgings finished at the end of the second 50 in 'F' Series, so that shortly we shall have to be considering ordering further material. We are arranging to fit the alternative scheme of balance weights, that is, the Chrysler scheme on to the car GLM-60 which is used by Lp.{Mr Lappin} and should cover a good mileage in a reasonable time. We doubt, however, whether this car will have done sufficient mileage before we have to order more crankshafts. That being the case, we shall have to order the 6/8 scheme which will run in France on 18-G4. The crankshaft forgings dies have already been altered to make crankshafts suitable for the permanent 6/8 scheme and therefore it appears that this is the crankshaft we shall use after the present stock has been exhausted until we have run the Chrysler scheme sufficiently to prove that it is an advantage.
