(1) £656/2/- for 162 25 H.P. normal type rear springs which could be used in conjunction with low rating front springs for close-coupled cars. The difference in these springs from the low rating springs as now used is in the initial deflection which is 5.125" instead of 6.400". It will require approximately 40 weeks to use these springs.

(2) There are £810/13/6d worth of P.II rear springs which can be adapted for further types of P.III chassis, by fitting a new spring front and anchorage bracket. This new bracket is required as P.II has a central spring eye and P.III has an up-turned front spring eye. The die cost for the brackets will be £35, machining as at present.

These springs are divided into 3 types:-

(a) £499/13/6 for 79 stiffer type initial deflection 6.190"
(b) £171/1/- for 22 normal type initial deflection 8.250"
(c) £108/17/- for 14 low rating initial deflection 10.250"

P.III now has an initial deflection of 7.000". All the stiffer type springs will be suitable for the Continental P.III. The normal type and low rating springs will be useful for the long chassis town carriage.

(3) The Repair Dept. will allow £52/12/- for the following springs:-

4 normal type rear P.II F.79439 at full value.
2 normal type front P.II F.78792 1100 lbs at 50% value.
6 normal type front F.78792 1200 lbs at 50% value.

SPRINGS TO BE SCRAPPED.

There are 114 25 HP normal rating front springs which cost £347/14/-½. These have 2" initial deflection against the production 4". Such a reduction in initial deflection for the front springs would seriously affect the riding of the car. Firths can make no use of these springs.

There are also 69 P.II front springs which cost £341/12/6 and now have no use.
