July 10th., 1933.

Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr. C.W. Nichols.

Dear Sir,

We have now had an opportunity of making an examination and of testing the large dial combined Smith revolution indicator and clock you kindly submitted.

Our tests shew this instrument to be equally as accurate as the A.T. and to have less variation with temperature than the A.T.

It is considerably lighter, and of course much cheaper than the A.T. and the needle does not oscillate as much as the A.T. with small rapid variations in speed.

We would like to go a little further with this instrument and we suggest you send someone along to have a talk with us, as unfortunately we are not convinced that the A.T. is a tremendously superior instrument. We shall be glad therefore if you will fix up a date accordingly.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
