TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} & HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. BJ. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} AJS. ORIGINAL EAC. 8. X7720 Naturally this would not be kept back for the aluminium cyl. block or head. These items would be put on when they were ready. EAC. 7. Regarding EAC. 7. the particulars of this chassis are nearly completed. There are no drastic changes in its design, but a few adjustments of length are required. This chassis will require the silent sequence starter. It should also, when convenient, include the lighter engine, and some further saving in the weight of the clutch and gearbox. Regarding the radiator for this chassis we have seen a way through of fitting a better cross member under this radiator to carry the front end of the engine etc. You will find on this chassis we have arranged the frame lower than the present standard without altering the usual road clearance. The radiator goes down with the frame so as not to alter the driver's view. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} will get out the instructions for this radiator, which is not altered in appearance, but has some definite alterations to the bottom tank. This chassis can in the first place have any front axle fitted to it, but it is intended to push forward the new and lighter axle with tubular ends. It should have the RR. double acting cyl. type of shock dampers, and it would be an opportunity of testing an 18" steering wheel with a smaller rim, and the top spoke deleted, and the zionite rim carried on a steel tube, the tube being either jointless, or the joint formed on the third or bottom spoke. This chassis should have fitted to it the Mechanic's joint on the propeller tube. R.{Sir Henry Royce} RECEIVED | ||
