Controls for B.60 Engine.

We are engaged on a design for the controls for the B.60 engine to supercede those already designed and detailed.

Our design will deal with the new situation resulting from thecarburetter having been turned round through 180°.

We confirm our telephone conversation of yesterday evening, when the electrically operated choke mounted on the choke spindle as on the standard carburetter supplied to us and not partly buried in the water jacket with the induction pipe as fitted up experimentally by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}

We notice on the experiment carried out by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} that part of the automatic choke control was removed, namely the mechanical control between the throttle spindle and the choke spindle, is it desired to delete this feature? We are interested because our throttle lever will be on this side of the carburetter.

It will be recalled that we have been asked to make a detail of the carburetter and to complete the L.O.P. To do this we want to know what modifications have to be made to this carburetter.

We understand that small modifications were made to the single carburetter used on W.III, and we so far have been unable to trace any record of this. Following no success of our part, we would be glad if Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} could give us a list of what these R.R. special features were. We have a rather hazy mental picture of what was done. Amongst the changes are hexagon heads on the 2 plugs to the main jets, method of fixing the float pivot.

There is also the question of the metering of the float needle and the size of the feed pipe which we notice was stated on ECD.1432
