NEW TYPE OF SILENCER - HUNTINGTON-HEBERLEIN.

In reply to your memo Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/R.6.11.34 regarding the position of this matter, a sample silencer has recently been submitted to a series of tests.

For this purpose Messrs. Huntington Heberlein made up a car silencer which was given a road test on a 25 HP. car, 18-G-1V., a report of which will be issued by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

Briefly, we understand that it proved inferior to the Standard system and to any experimental systems tried recently.

From an aero point of view the form of construction employed would make a heavy system, and it does not lend itself to a streamline form, which is the main objective of our development work at present.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L.B.Hall.
