4166 (crossed out) 41497. c.HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY33/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 9.6.27. "OCHROMITE" VALVES. I regret overlooking the above matter. I find that the "Ochromite" valve was bought in U.S.A. through Rolls Royce of America Inc. I take it that you would now like us to order say a set of these valves suitable for the Condor engine. If you are in agreement with this proposal I will place an order straight away through our American Associates. "Ochromite" has the following composition, roughly:- Copper............... 58% Nickel............... 35% Iron................. 3% Chromium............. 2% Manganese............ 2% From which you will note it is practically a non-ferrous alloy. The above figures are from analysis, and agree quite well with the figures given by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} in E1/M.25.6.26. after which we ordered half a dozen valves from America.
