Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}6/F8.1.21. X.3777 X2764 Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} has brought to our attention certain valve mechanism noises which can be heard distinctly at higher engine speeds, which appear to be due to the vibration of the valve spring. The noise can be damped out by touching the spring while the engine is running. We have not experienced any serious trouble with valve breakages, but I feel the above point is one which might receive our attention experimentally, as it would certainly be an advantage to eliminate the noise referred to. I should be pleased to make demonstrations of this noise on engines on test. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
