Dear Sirs,

In October of last year you sent us some special compression springs, particulars of which you calculated to suit our requirements.

We now wish to standardise these springs, and in order to make a drawing of them we wish to be sure of the wire size. According to our measurements of the springs the wire is 0.125 X 0.287 rectangular. Will you please confirm that this is correct.

The correspondence concerning these springs was under our reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}30/KW.9.10.36 and your reference FS{F. Steele}/DR. 12.10.36.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
