1307 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /FWK.6/JH. 25th. February, 1939. Willcot (Parent) Co.Ltd., Fishponds. BRISTOL. For the attention of Mr. Cotterell. Spring Gaiters. Dear Sirs, In a day or two we shall be sending you a leaf spring to which we want fitting a pair of leather gaiters. The spring we are sending has the following loaded and unloaded cambers. Free camber. 6 1/2" +VE. Loaded camber. 1/2" -VE. (normal position). Full bump. camber. 4" -VE. Spring seat width. 4 3/4". The gaiters you have supplied us with in the past have been satisfactory and therefore no alteration in basic construction is necessary except that owing to the larger movement of the new spring, it may be necessary to modify the gaiter slightly to accommodate this increase in movement. If there is any further information you require, will you please let us know. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
