-2- HB{C. E. Harcombe}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW. It will surprise us if you cannot get out of your difficulty by judicious use of scraper rings. I wonder whether you could possibly tell me the amount of balance on the crankshaft of the 12-cylinder Lincoln car which I tried. We usually talk of balance as a percentage of the pin and connecting rod big end. In a shaft with 100% balance, the balance weight has a moment about the crankshaft centre equal to half that of the webs, pin and connecting rod big end, which it balances. I hope I shall meet you in America, and if you want to get in touch with me a letter addressed to the Cadillac Motor Car Co., Detroit, will always find me. Mr. Inskip, President of Rolls-Royce of America, Incorporated, New York, will generally know where I am. Wishing you the compliments of the season, Yours sincerely, | ||
