Dear Rothes, Many thanks for your letter of the 25th August. Sorry your weather was so bad. I have 10 days in Scotland to come after the T.T., and am hoping for the best. I go over to Ireland on September 2nd and do not expect to be back at the factory until the 17th. I suggest that you defer your visit until then. We have done all that we can with the tyres at Derby and are now really waiting for some results from the two sets we have running in France. We are certainly interested in the quieter tread of the same size, which of course we can test in England. I note that Dunlops have now taken charge of you completely, but hope that this will make no difference in your Technical Dept. I wish you would come over to Ulster, but I expect you will be partridge shooting. I think the car stands a better chance than previously on its own merits, and also the handicap is better, but we are about due for a minor trouble which is so likely to put you out of the race when you have only one horse running.
