Modifications to the wing stays for the 20/25 HP model.

You will have received our EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/12.4.30 re the above. We thank you for your report on the wings and stays of I4.G.4. We suggest that the following be done:- THE FORMOST FRONT WINGSTAY. We are engaged at the moment in modifications to the front crossmember and wingstay in connection with a design for head-lamp standards on the lines of those of P.2. We do not suggest that at the moment we should go to the single lower bolt in the place of the present two as that would scrap the dies, although we agree that the added flexibility might help to prevent breakages. If it is agreed to use new dies, would you please send us a wire? If we have new dies we could deepen up the section as on P.2. The material should be the same gauge as on P.2. REARMOST FRONT WINGSTAY. At the moment there is no extraneous cause for changing this other than its own failure. We have suggested the increased thickness of material, but if we can have new dies we would use the single lower bolt and deepen the section. We believe that it is true that on production ( that is customers cars) we have very few if any breakages of these stays. They are evidently very close to the border line however, and possibly the increased gauge of steel would do all that is required. We will try to see I4.G.4. in London. | ||
