Handwritten notes: Top: Swoll - Please let me have a brief report comparing the A.C. with the General. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Red Stamp: 1139. Letterhead: JERVIS B. WEBB COMPANY 8951 ALPINE AVENUE DETROIT, MICH. October 13th, 1937 Mr. W. Arthur Robotham, Rolls Royce, Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby, England My dear Mr. Robotham: Subject: General Filters, Inc. We have just been approached by an agent here, who is representing an English concern engaged in the manufacture of various hardware items for the English motor car trade. He does not wish, at this time, to disclose the name of his client, other than the information above. He says, however, that his client has quite a substantial business and an excellent entree into all the English car manufacturers and the jobbing trade; and he is desirous of looking into the manufacturing rights for our General Filter. This agent advises us that a rather large English motor car manufacturer is contemplating the installation of filters on all of their 1938 cars, and his client is quite anxious to put himself into a position to furnish a good filter for this prospect. I recall that you said something to me, when you left here, about the possibilities of manufacturing our filter in England, and that you might know of someone who would be interested. We have sent you several samples for test, and you probably have a first hand idea of how our filter works out under the conditions that are prevalent in England; and I am wondering if you could give me any information as to what the possibilities might be in England for a good filter. I mean by that could it in your estimation mount up to a reasonable volume of business or would it be a very small item. This would help me considerably in considering any direct proposition that I might get from these parties, as to licensing under patents or manufacturing rights for England, etc. Anything that you could give me would be helpful. With best regards, I am Sincerely, Jervis B. Webb JBW:M SALES REPRESENTATION IN PRINCIPAL CITIES IN THE UNITED STATES LONDON, ENG. FRASER-CHALMERS ENG. WORKS | ||
