(4) High Compression Engine. This consists of a standard head with a small amount taken off the face and a thin gasket. It has already been fitted to several customers' cars, and causes little or no inconvenience on production. Alternatively, we have a piston which raises the compression ratio. This will be running in France in a few weeks' time on B.III. As the piston is a 'bought out' part the production of a special type will not upset the factory.

(5) Lower Radiator and Special Thermostat. Both these are essential. Both are 'bought out' parts.

(6) Tyres. There will be no necessity to depart from 6.50 x 17 tyres.

With reference to head room, we have carefully compared the drawing of the 'Paulin Bentley' car with that of the standard Bentley, and have obtained the following results:-

Front Seats. Head Room no standard;
Roof dropped 2 1/4";
Seat 2 1/4";
Width of front seat 1/2" less than standard.

Rear Seats. Roof dropped 4";
Seat 3";
Head Room 1" less than standard.
Width of rear seat 2 1/2" less than standard.

Luggage Space. Standard Bentley 8.65 cubic ft.
Paulin " 8.15 "

It is very difficult to determine accurately the interior dimensions of the car from the drawing, and it would probably be better to measure it up when it comes over to England.

22.2.38, with reference to the figures given in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/W. we would like to revise these when we have actually had an opportunity of measuring the road wheel horse-power which is being developed by the 'Paulin Bentley' and checking its lap speed with the optimum axle ratio.
