With regard to Sr's remarks re propellor shaft damper and bumper bar.

The bumper bar fitted to the trials Car B.I.CW. is considerably more flexible than the one we tried, and several fitted to Customer's Cars. The two flat spring plates appear to be weak.

The cups with the lead inside gets into a period due to this weakness, Sr complains of wing movement. I tried the Car. The movement is not excessive but is noticeable and is rapid. We fitted the short bumper bar sent out to us. The result was very little better, although the flexability of the bar was considerably less.

The result with the bumper bar on this particular Car is not so definate as when Sr and myself carried out the tests previously last year. Actually Sr is expecting all movement to be cured.

With regard to the propellor shaft damper.
The above car has got the over-run period in the gearbox, and the fitting of the damper has practically made no difference. I've not had time to test this out, nor is the Car available for the time to do the change over.

We are very pleased to hear of the results obtained by the large bore engine. Sr and myself were going over the results of the high compression head versus the present standard, yesterday, and neither Sr nor myself appreciate the difference. Sr is very emphatic that he does not want the detonations nor the roughness for nothing gained lower down. What he wants and did appreciate, was the streamline Car drew up to his and left him standing so to speak. The results have got to be definate to be appreciated, and by your remarks you have accomplished it. Send it over by all means.

We will make enquiries re the patching of the

Body.
