a layer of carbon which was marking the cylinder walls. We consider that the short time it took the rings to become stuck, is a point for urgent investigation.
AVERAGES FOR THE TEST - ETC.
Oil consumption 5.3 pts.hr. Bed test.

Petrol " 181 " " Bed test.

Full power before going on to Hangar - 362 B.HP.
" " after 100 hrs. - 330 B.HP.
Oil used - Castrol.
Petrol used - Redline.
Plugs used - Lodge KN.{D. G. McKechnie - Sales}9 on Hangar and 10 hrs. on bed.
K.L.G. F.12 for 40 hrs. on Bed.
Complete failures - nil.
BREAKAGES SUMMARISED.
2 Valve springs - 1 inner and outlet - both on inlet valves.
Leaves of 5 Magnetos Drives.
3 Magnetos (Watford) winding broken down.
SUMMARY OF DISMANTLING. CONDITION..
Crankcases. Very good.
Crankshaft. Very good.
Bearings. The white metal on two of the brgs. cracked - majority of liners chipped.
Connecting Rods. Very good.
Cylinders. One or two scored slightly.
Valves. See report on Valves and seatings.
Camshaft cases, & Camshaft. Very good.
Rockers and rollers. Very good - one roller scored.
