Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X5420 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M7.1.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' BRAKES. X.7420 X.5420 X.7360 We believe that the duralumin forged brake shoes are very expensive. Since aluminium has answered satisfactorily on the Phantom front brakes, and on the 20 HP. front and rear brakes for a very long time we think it would be worth while trying alum. castings on the rear brakes. With duralumin it is not possible to save very much weight as one dare not reduce the thickness beyond a certain point, and at this thickness aluminium seems to answer quite well.
