These are the improved lamps developed from those fitted to 35-EX. which were turned down in France, on account of dazzle when dimmed. They are of the 'dip and switch' type. An arrangement enabling double filament bulbs in place of the dippers to be used is provided for Continental use. This scheme was fitted up for the French test, using Lucas-Graves bulbs. We were not satisfied with the anti-dazzle properties when dimmed so the lamps were taken to Lucas and the whole job gone over with them in their dark room. They have now fitted up the lamps with Marchal type three pin bulbs. These give better results than the Lucas-Graves bulbs and are readily obtainable in France in case of breakage. We are now satisfied that these particular Lucas lamps when dimmed are as free from dazzle as the average Marchal lamps and that they will not be objected to by the French drivers.
