Modifications to stiff radiator shutters on car models 32-EX and 6-B-IV.

X340 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Ha/Std.14/JH.15.4.36. Radiator Shutters, on 32-EX and 6-B-IV. The radiator shutters on both these cars are much too stiff in operation, resulting in too much variation in water temperature. Will you therefore carry out the following at the first opportunity when the cars are in the shop . (6-B-IV is at present there for change of engine unit). (1) Make sure that all the shutters on 32-EX have some end play, and reduce their friction as far as possible. (2) Reduce the initial spring load on the shutters on 6-B-IV, these are our spring loaded type and have an initial spring compression of .010, this should be halved i.e., .005", the shutters made as free as possible.
