CONTINUATION No. 1........... adopted and its approximate cost, which should be forwarded to Mr. Howlett. Regarding the "L" section rings, it would appear that there has been some misunderstanding over this as certain prints call for a land .030" wide to be left on the ring which should, of course, be produced by either lapping or grinding, but where no such indication appeared on the print it apparently was taken for granted that the full contact would be required, which the Works accordingly produced. We very much regret any trouble or inconvenience which has been caused by this and the matter has been put before Mr. Howlett who will no doubt be writing you further on the subject in due course. Meanwhile, we have passed instructions to our Works that on no account are the "L" section rings to be lapped-in, in future, but left so that the one edge, high loading, will be a feature of the ring, which we understand is what you desire. Yours faithfully, For WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LTD., F Blackith Technical Manager. P.S. We should be pleased to receive confirmation of the time and date of the visit to the A.E.C. re bearings, which we suggested might be Friday of this week. | ||
