shock dampers are so connected up as to allow about .250" wheel movement before the damping comes into action.

Ignition.

Two points worthy of note were noticed on ignition systems; on the Chrysler Plymouth the ignition is advanced automatically by engine suction; this method is also exhibited on the Delco-Remy stand. The second point is that on the Cadillac V.12 the ignition coil is mounted in the top tank of the radiator. The advantages claimed are that improved performance is obtained due to the coil being maintained at a constant temperature. Both these features appear worthy of investigation.

Induction Systems.

Special note of the induction pipe layout used with the horizontal carburetter was made in view of our outstanding experiments on the 25 HP. car. On all cars using a horizontal carburetter (S.U. in the majority) the general layout is the same, the carburetter is bolted directly to a straight horizontal pipe, the leads to the cylinder ports being as short as possible and at right angles to the pipe. Examples of this are found on the new Lanchester.
