With reference to PN{Mr Northey}'s report. The maximum speed tests taken on this car before it left Derby were carried out on roads which we know well. 107-MG car - quoted by PN.{Mr Northey} as being practically equal in speed to the one he now has - was tested on the same roads. We have very complete records of 107-MG at Derby because this car was sent purposely from Sales Dept. as a model. At the time 107-MG was sent to Derby as a model, it was found that the speedometer on the car was reading 15% high. This was arrived at after careful calibration. 107-MG car on certain pieces of road obtained a maximum speed of 68 m.p.h. On tests carried out on 46-PK, wefound that this car reached 78 m.p.h. on the same piece of road. The engine HP's which we have given were obtained with identically the same carburetter and same adjustments as that now fitted to the car. We attach chart and particulars of car speeds and horse power. If high maximum speeds are desired, we must tackle the body rather than the engine. As regards the steering, it should be appreciated that this is not standard in many respects. The car is fitted with EAC-1 type steering and radius rods which we arranged for EAC.111. contd:- | ||
