200B 427 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.11/MH.{M. Huckerby} 3rd. February 1938. N.H.Manning Esq., Messrs. Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd., Chequers Lane, Dagenham. Dear Mr. Manning, After many stages of development we have reached a frame which has a frontend design which is quite similar to the general designs in America, so we feel that we should now have a good cheap frame. I am sending you a complete set of drawings and we should like quotations for quantities of 1,000 frames. I should like to point out that the frame is made .104" thick material which is approximately 10 gauge American. We should like a quotation for supplying the frame complete welded and rivetted as shown on the arrangement drawing, and also a quotation for supplying the parts. We hope that the simplified arrangement of the front end will help the cost and we shall be particularly interested if you can make a considerable saving in the tool cost. It might be worth considering an alternative quotation spending approximately £4,000 on tools. If there is any further information that will help you we shall be very pleased to supply it or come down to discuss the matter. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
