Dear Oy,

Many thanks for your last letter which has explained why a car on which we reduce the ca/ster angle behaves in a most unwieldy manner.

We have managed to collect at these works several parts of a Cadillac CO rear axle of the semi-floating variety. We find that the diameter of the shaft under the wheel bearing is only 1.552 and that the over-hang of the tyre centre line over this bearing is no less than 3". This last figure seems almost a record, and in view of the trouble which Olds. had in 1936 with only 2 3/4" over-hang we wondered what is the secret by which Cadillac get away with 3". Possibly we ought not to have any of this information, but naturally should be very grateful if you could give us an idea whether the Cadillac CO half shafts are entirely above reproach.

By the way, I dont think that the Cadillac 37 manual has yet been returned to its lawful owners.

With regards,

Yours sincerely,
