X4533 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/KW.3.10.34. 5-B-IV. ENGINE (B-10 UNIT). (1) Cylinder head 6.75 C/R.{Sir Henry Royce} Aluminium, to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1372. Now on the unit in B-23-AE. (2) Halford type silent tappets - cancelled. (3) Crankshaft to EX.14081. (4) Connecting rods to EX.14210/1. Drilled for oil feed as instructed by Matthews. (5) Aerolite pistons in RR.53 alloy with latest grinding. Set received, on bench in Fitting Shop. (6) Timing gears 10 D.P. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1219 and 1221, but with ground steel gears and lapped Textolite cam and water pump pinions. (7) Scheme to prevent valves dropping into cylinder, LeC.3933. (8) Flywheel and clutch, N.Sch.4190. (See Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}) (9) Engine mounting, rear as on 4-B-IV, front N.Sch.4166.
